Clothes.com $4.9 Million Price Revealed in SEC Filings

TechCrunch and DNW.com both covered this story today. Turns out that Zappos.com paid $4.9 million to acquire Clothes.com from IdeaLab in 2008.  The new revealed domain price puts Clothes.com at the second largest sale of 2008 behind the sale of Fund.com according to DNJournal’s sale chart for 2008.

Big sales like this seldom get reported when private companies are involved and public companies often are able to disguise exact sales numbers in financials. It’s a real treat to see something like this come to light.

Is it just me or has Tech Crunch covering a lot of domain sales lately?  Kudos guys. I guess when you have a slew of category-killers changing hands like Candy.com, Office.com, Server.com, Toys.com and now Clothes.com it’s just hard to pass up.
